Assessment of nutrition and dietary pattern in IBD patients

Background: Inflammatory bowel diseases are chronic debilitating illnesses, nearly 3,9 million females and 3,0 males living with IBD worldwide the number of prevalent cases is on rise. Malnutrition not uncommon a grave complication that negatively impacts various clinical outcomes as it responsible for weight loss. The current study aims to assess nutritional status patients. Patients methods: A cross sectional was conducted in Medical city hospital period 6 months, included 201 patients were chosen randomly upon their entry Gastrointestinal outpatient clinic (every 5th patient), interviewed, files checked, data collected intake logged into excel sheet, Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) assessment done each patient. In all statistical analysis, P value ≤0.05 considered significant. Results: More than half 105 (52.2%) had UC remaining 96(47.8%) CD.
